– Our most important goal is to make Språkbanken more accessible to our users, both in Sweden and internationally. Språkbanken is Sweden’s national research infrastructure for linguistic data and is represented at ten universities and institutions across the country, from Umeå in the north to Lund in the south. Until now, our digital research infrastructure has been spread across several different websites. We are now bringing everything together under sprakbanken.se, which will serve as the common entry point to our resources. This will make it considerably easier for researchers to discover, find, and use our research data, analytical tools, and platforms, enabling them to advance their research more quickly. In short, we are becoming a more cohesive research infrastructure.
What other benefits does the new website offer?
– The various partners within the Språkbanken consortium will have better opportunities to contribute resources directly to the shared infrastructure. This shortens the path from a new resource to the researcher who can benefit from it. In particular, sprakbanken.se will serve as a central hub for Språkbanken’s resources, which can then be automatically made available to other research infrastructures, such as the European research infrastructure CLARIN ERIC and the Swedish National Data Service (SND). In this way, we maximize the value of Språkbanken while helping to reduce unnecessary duplication of effort across our national and European research infrastructures.
– Our new website will create real and lasting benefits for researchers and provide a significant boost to both Swedish and international research, says Markus Forsberg.
